“Every day I think about my students on the mountain and I believe that one day, we will cross paths again”

“I arrived in China with curiosity and the gift of music, and when I left the gates of Ming Xing School, the students had given me impactful memories and the gift of humility. On the first day of teaching, I walked into my grade seven class with the textbook clutched nervously in my hands. As I wrote my name on the chalkboard and introduced myself, my students stared with curiosity and wondered whether or not to treat me seriously. After my first class, the students began to respect me. After witnessing their hard work and effort, I also began to respect them.

Although I grew up in a different environment than my students, I have realized that we all must work hard to achieve our dreams and goals. Every day I think about my students on the mountain and I believe that one day, we will cross paths again. VTC was an incredible experience that will impact me for the rest of my life.”
